Cold fish, figurative, emotionally distant person ("cold," a., sec 19, first use cited 1941): Poem titled "The Common Lot," by pseudonymous "P. W.," New York Tribune, March 26, 1916, p 15, col 1: "I've loved Lenora many years,/ ... She treated me like some cold fish."
