Beware of the buzzwords

The Europeans complain that we do not "consult" with them, although it often seems that we do little else. We talk and we discuss and we confer, but it is never enough. Nor will it ever be, for "consult" is code meant to conceal their true grievance, which is that we refuse to obey them. And they resent it.

Buzzwords multiply. No loaded shorthand (such as "Oslo," "Road Map," or "Quartet") or clever semantic parsing ("jump-start" etc.), can ever bridge the gap between the Palestinians and Israel--not when one side intends to destroy the other. Adjusting nuances and shades of meaning won't do it.
