Right down the middle? No, down the right middle

Conventional wisdom holds that the country is split down the middle, but it isn't. At this moment, it appears that the GOP controls:

55% of the US Senate;

53% of the US House of Representatives;

56% or 58% of the state governorships (Washington state is still undetermined);

and

100% of the US presidency.
