Today's OED antedating: "to frame"

To frame, to falsely implicate someone, usually in a crime (v., sec 10, first use cited 1922): Article headlined "Webber Grilled By Defence 3 Hours, But Backs Rose On Plot," New York Tribune, May 15, 1914, p 1, col 1: "A mass of 'negative' evidence ... purporting to show that Becker had been 'framed' by the gamblers and was innocent of any part in the murder, was introduced by the defence ... ."
